     William Fairbairn died aft. 1871 ?Castlemains, Duns, BEW, SCT; Robert SKIPP (#1966) has p/copy of plot purchased in Duns cemetery "in favour of William FAIRBAIRN" dated 23 May 1871, supposedly for Alison.1,5

     William Fairbairn appeared on the census of 1871 Castle Mains, Dist of Dunse, BEW, SCT, with Alison Miller, enumerated as FAIRBAIRN: William 48 farm servant b Eckford, ROX; wife Alison 53 Ayton, BEW; Son: Henry 17 farm servant b Mordington.6
